Happy New Year, everyone! 2008 is starting out with a small "bang" in the Mik Household! On New Year's Day, we wanted to add some water to our waterbed, so Greg tried to take the aerator off the faucet in our bathroom. Because of the hard water we have, not only did the aerator come off, but the part above that that is connected to the water line came out! Sooooo, now we have to get a new faucet in our bathroom. Definitely a bummer!
After that, we were changing the sheets on our bed, and Greg noticed a leak! Sheesh . . . what's with the water issues? Fortunately, the leak was very small and Greg was able to put some sort of glue on it.
This entry is covering a bunch of time, so forgive me if I go back and forth a bit. Today, the temps were quite WARM -- while I was out shopping with the girls, the truck said it was 40 degrees outside! Wahoo! Because of the warmth, I had Aaron open the chicken coop to let them come outside and to air out the coop, after being closed up for at least a month. I also told him to take care of the goats and let the geese out of the barn. Shortly thereafter, Maddie was scratching on the back door to come in and when I let her in, I heard the unmistakable sound of the goats outside! That was NOT what I expected! Baaaaaaaaaa. Aaron decided seeing as it was so warm out that he'd let the goats out, too. Of course, I had to grab my camera! The look so cute with their winter coat . . . REALLY thick! Here's a pic of them in our driveway:

Aren't they cute! Bambi is about 6 months older than Spud and Rudy . . . I wonder how big they're going to get, as they don't seem to have grown much since we've had them . . .
Other happenings in the Mik Household? Let's see, I almost got in an accident the other night! I was waiting to turn left onto Spruce Street in Abbotsford and after the truck turned right at the corner I was waiting at, I started to pull out because there was nothing coming. Boy was I wrong! There was a car hidden by the truck! I started to pull out and if not for the driver of the car heading west's quick reflexes, and mine (although it was slippery out and my antilock brakes kicked in), I would have done quite a number on her car, and on my truck! Sheesh! Just goes to show that even the BEST drivers (like me!), can have problems!
Other news? Well, we're going to have Dutch Oven cooking classes at our store! I'm VERY excited about them! Everyone's always telling me I should hold a class, but I really didn't think I could . . . until now! I was approached by someone from the Abbotsford School District to ask if I was interested in teaching a class for the "Community Education Program." As I had thought about it off and on for a while, I decided that there's no time like the present! Gotta jump in when you have the chance, right?!
Not only are we going to have classes, as outlined on our homepage: RVing Outpost website, but we've started a brand new website! The Dutch Oven University website is currently under construction, but will have lots of great information dealing with Dutch ovens, campfire cooking and of course, the most FABULOUS recipes anywhere on the internet!
So, we have classes, a new website, and shortly, we'll have a bunch of new products at our store! Who could ask for anything more?! OK, well maybe some sleep would be nice, but hey, I can sleep in my next life, right? ;)
Hope all's well for everyone! Godspeed!
